Y-Guides

YMCA Adventure Guides is a program offered in YMCAs across the country designed to strengthen the relationship between a parent and a child. The program is open to children ages 5 to 9, with opportunities to continue beyond through other programs like Trail Blazers.

We are currently trying to set up circles in the Greenbush and surrounding communities of Rennselear county. Circles are a small group of, 4 to 9, parent child pairs who meet on a regular basis in each other's' homes, usually monthly. Occasionally, several Circles come together to participate in larger activities such as camp outs, parties, or parades. These outings are called Expeditions. The core of the YMCA Adventure Guides program are these Circle and Expedition meetings and adventures. Typical activities include ceremonies, games, crafts, songs, stories, skits, and outdoor pursuits such as camping, hiking, and swimming.

	To participate you need to register with the Y-Guides program Before 10/15/05: $50 (Capital District YMCA members: $25) after 10/15/05: $65 (Capital District YMCA members: $40) This program is offered through the Hiawatha Federation and the Guilderland YMCA and is open to all who wish to participate.
