Summer is finally here and so are the weeds. Due to problems getting the required permits the lake association has yet to spray the lake for weeds and algae.
On a good note the lake as of 6/12 has yet to turn
green. Part of this can be attributed to the growth of beneficial weeds pulling the nutrients out of the lake before the algae can.
At the June meeting of the Burden Lake Association it was decided that they would not spray the lake for curly pond this year.
With no permit they cannot spray and by the end of June the curly pond will release from the lake bed, float to the surface and then sink out of sight and not be seen any more this year. This will allow the good weeds a chance to grow and help the lake.
Next year plans are to try and control the milfoil which will also take care of the curly pond.
